Michael R. Stevenson's Night Driver is a killer instrumental guitar album. It has enough amazing shredding to satisfy even the most hard-core shred guitar fan. "Night Driver" has a laid back crunchy and tough flow and takes you on a Ferrari ride of a solo. "Barbarians at the Gate" is Michael's heaviest instrumental ever, and features the amazing drumming of Tim Donahue. Like Pantera with Yngwie shredding, has a remarkable blast beat section after a ripping solo. "Rings of Saturn" is an evocative ballad up with Satriani and Vai's best slow, pretty stuff. "Off the Hook" is a weird, ska-influenced track that is like Primus with Satriani. "India" is an unaccompanied piece, laid back and trippy, the title says it all. The title to "Shred Ghetto" came from reading an article about Steve Vai. This crunchy up-tempo track is what instrumental guitar is all about. Vai would approve. "Luv Charm" is the catchy radio friendly hit with big instrumental choruses and a pop crunch. "Icicles" is another unaccompanied ambient piece. It makes clever use of echo, muted strings, and left hand hammer-ons with interesting intervals. "Chillzilla" is a laid back bluesy rocker with fat bass. The guitar uses both organic and artificial octaves in a catchy and interesting way. "Steve's Shuffle" is like Michael's own signature rockin' guitar statement that recalls some of the other instrumental shred masters. Get this must-have shred classic!!!!
